The Pope will pray for the ‘Christs’ excluded and humiliated on the Via Crucis

Pope Francis will pray for all those who suffer because of the war, for the “many Christs” victims of arrogance, for the abandoned women and the “elderly and discarded children”, during the Via Crucis on Friday evening at the Colosseum in Rome (29) . .

This is confirmed by the meditations written by the Pontiff and published by the Holy See, according to which the Argentinian’s texts will have a “meditative” character: “It is possible to see Jesus crucified today in Christ humiliated by arrogance and injustice, by unjust gains obtained by to the detriment of others in general indifference”, underlines Francisco.

“Now I understand your insistence on identifying yourself with those in need: you have been incarcerated; you, a stranger, taken out of the city to be crucified; you were naked, stripped of your clothes; you, sick and wounded; you, thirsty for “The crusader and hungry for love. Let me see you in those who suffer and let me see you in those who suffer, because you are there, in those who are deprived of dignity”, says the prayer.

Jorge Bergoglio will also pray for those who have been offended on social media.

“Jesus, many follow the barbaric spectacle of your execution and, without knowing you or the truth, pass judgment and condemnation, covering you with infamy and contempt.”

“It also happens today, Lord, and a macabre procession isn’t even necessary: a keyboard is enough to insult and publish sentences”, he highlights.

In the sixth station (“Jesus receives comfort from Veronica, who wipes her face”), the Pope recalls that “while many shout and judge, a woman makes her way through the crowd and sympathizes.

“She goes against the grain: alone, with the courage of compassion, she risks for love, she finds a way to pass among the soldiers just to give you the comfort of a caress on the face. Her gesture will go down in history and is a gesture of consolation “, he adds.

According to the leader of the Catholic Church, “the women of Calvary have no voice, but they make themselves heard”. “Help us recognize the greatness of women, those who were faithful and close to you at Easter, but who are still rejected today, suffering outrage and violence” he underlines.

«Jesus, the women you meet beat their chests and cry for you. They do not cry for themselves, but they cry for you, they cry for the evil and sin of the world”, says the Pope’s prayer in the eighth station (“Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem”).

The Holy Father will also remember the need to recognize and love unborn and abandoned children, the many young people waiting for someone to hear their cry of pain, the discarded elderly, prisoners and those who are alone, the most exploited and forgotten”.

«May this prayer of intercession reach the sisters and brothers who in many parts of the world suffer persecution because of your name; those who suffer the drama of war and who, finding strength in You, carry heavy crosses”, says Francis in the final prayer of the Via Crucis.

The Via Crucis at the Colosseum in Rome is scheduled to begin at 9.15pm (local time). The proposed reflections are generally requested by the Pope from authors or groups of people who share their experience of suffering. .
