Hyundai promises 4 new cars imported to Brazil by 2025

Hyundai will take over its car import operations in Brazil and bring new Santa Fe, Palisade, Kona and Ioniq 5 in 2024 and 2025

The next few months will be very busy for Hyundai in Brazil. The South Korean car manufacturer made official this Wednesday 6 at least four launches for the country until next year: Santa Fe, Palisade, Ioniq 5 and Kona. The news comes together with the resumption of car import operations, previously carried out by CAOA.

With the changing relationship between Hyundai and the Caoa Group, the South Korean brand will take care of imports and also manage the entire dealer network, after-sales service and production orders – in Anápolis (GO), orders will be placed from HMB (Hyundai Motor Brasil) directly to Caoa.

In exchange, CAOA dealers will start selling the HB20 and Creta models. The Brazilian group will also earn per unit produced in the Goiás plant and a percentage on sales of imported products. Between frictions and successes, the relationship between Hyundai and Caoa began in 1999, when the South Korean brand landed in Brazil.

HMB dealerships will immediately begin to offer the Tucson models – still of an older generation than the rest of the world – and the HR light truck, produced by Caoa. Both will be sold in unique versions without options, with prices yet to be officially announced.

New Hyundai Ioniq 5

Then, until the second half of this year, it will be the turn of the new Hyundai Palisade and Ioniq 5 which will arrive in Brazil. While the former is the world’s largest brand SUV and has 8 seats, the latter is an electric vehicle that mixes SUV and hatchback elements in a look that has already won several awards abroad.

The Palisade is expected to arrive in Brazil in its most powerful configuration. In the USA, the SUV is powered by a 295 hp 3.8 V6 petrol engine. The traction system is integral on all four wheels, while the transmission is an 8-speed automatic. The Ioniq 5 should be sold in the country in a version with 305 HP of power and 500 km of autonomy in the WLTP cycle.

Immediately afterwards it will be the turn of the new generations of Santa Fe and Kona. Hyundai says it hasn’t yet decided which of the two will come first. However, one of these will be launched by the end of the year and the second by the beginning of 2025. With a square and robust appearance, the new Hyundai Santa Fe is more refined in finishes, more technological and retains 7 seats.

Abroad it has various naturally aspirated, turbo and hybrid engines. Hyundai has not yet confirmed which will be offered in Brazil. The new generation Kona will have hybrid and electric versions. The first features a 1.6 naturally aspirated engine combined with an electric motor, capable of offering 141 HP of combined power.

New Hyundai Kona hybrid

The new electric Hyundai Kona will have two ranges of power and autonomy. The cheapest will have 135 HP and 370 km in the WLTP cycle, while the most expensive will have 204 HP and 505 km respectively. The hybrid model is expected to compete with the Toyota Corolla Cross, while the electric model will compete with the BYD Yuan Plus.

In 2025, Hyundai promises to offer new models produced in the CAOA plant in Anápolis (GO). Among the possibilities, the strongest is the new generation of Tucson, which has already been under consideration for a few years. Additionally, Hyundai also says it is studying supplying more cars to the country. Among these is the new Elantra N, which has a 280 hp 2.0 turbo engine.
