Israeli soldiers post videos “playing” with Palestinian families’ women’s underwear

Israeli soldiers will be investigated after the publication of photos and videos in which they appear handling and “playing” with women’s underwear, such as panties and bras, found in abandoned houses in the Palestinian territories.

In the publications, it was possible to see soldiers holding panties close to the face of a colleague who was pretending to sleep on a sofa, photos of a soldier holding a female mannequin from behind, and a soldier handling a half-naked children’s doll.

The images in question were posted publicly on the YouTube and Instagram platforms and, as a result, received several views. YouTube removed a video that violated the platform’s rules, while Instagram did not comment on the matter.

To denounce the acts, a Palestinian journalist – identified as Younis Tirawi – republished some of the videos denouncing the action and sent them to the news agency Reuterswho verified the authenticity of approximately eight publications and, after an analysis to confirm the veracity of the information, sent them to the Israel Defense Forces.

According to the institution, the soldiers are under investigation and will answer for their actions.

“In cases where a crime is suspected and an investigation is warranted, the Military Police begin investigating. It should be made clear that in some of the cases examined it was concluded that the behavior of the soldiers in the video was not appropriate and this will be handled accordingly,” the Israeli military said in a statement sent to Reuters.

To date it has not been reported whether the soldiers appearing in the images have been punished.
