Colombia expels Argentine diplomats after Milei’s insults

The president called Gustavo Petro a “murderous terrorist”

The Colombian government has expelled diplomats from the Argentine embassy in Bogota in response to President Javier Milei, who called his counterpart, Gustavo Petro, a “terrorist murderer”.

In a statement released by the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry rejected the Argentine head of state’s claims.

“The Chancellery repudiates the statements made by Milei, president of Argentina, in an interview with the CNN channel in which he expressed himself in a degrading manner. It is not the first time that Milei has offended the Colombian president, affecting the historic fraternal relations between Colombia and Argentina”, reads the note.

The Colombian Ministry added that the sentences uttered by Milei “deteriorated the trust” of Bogota and “offended the dignity” of Petro. The ministry, however, did not say which employees were removed from the embassy.

The comment that annoyed Colombia was made by Milei in an interview that lasted almost an hour on CNN in Spain, during the program “Oppenheimer Presenta”. At the time, the Argentine declared that “you can’t expect much from someone who has been a terrorist murderer”.

In January, the Argentine called the Colombian leader a “murderous communist”, as well as claiming that, because of him, Bogota was destroyed. .
