Blinken travels to Saudi Arabia, Egypt this week to discuss ‘immediate ceasefire’ in Gaza

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will travel to Saudi Arabia and Egypt this week to discuss efforts to reach an agreement between Hamas and Israel on an “immediate ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip, the US State Department said on Tuesday.

In a press release obtained by CNN, the US Department of State indicated that its top official will travel to Jeddah and Cairo this week to meet with the leaders of Saudi Arabia and Egypt to discuss efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire agreement. Israel and Hamas.”

The US State Department indicated that the deal in question would “guarantee the release of all remaining hostages held by Hamas following the October 7 attack against Israel.”

The same source specified that Blinken’s visit to Saudi Arabia and Egypt is “part of a tour that will also take him to Austria, South Korea and the Philippines,” without specifying the exact date of that tour.

This is Blinken’s sixth trip to the Middle East since October 7.
