Despite being founded in 1693, Curitiba only became the capital of Paraná in 1854.
The city of Curitiba is the most populous in Paraná and, compared to the whole of Brazil, ranks eighth.
The capital of Paraná is divided into neighborhoods and regions, the largest of which is the Cidade Industrial de Curitiba (CIC). Some of Curitiba’s most important companies are located in this region.
