According to the students the theft occurred earlier this month, on the 6th, around 4.30pm, in the room of the PUC Júnior Consultoria, a company made up of university students. At the time of the crime the place was empty and had been ransacked. It is estimated that the loss is approximately R $ 30 thousand.

In a repudiatory note, PUC-JR pointed out that the situation could have occurred anywhere else on campus due to the university’s lack of security and that there was no cooperation or transparency from the university.

“We college students never expected to experience something like this in our learning environment. The fact is of extreme frustration and indignation. […] Finally, we reiterate that the objective of this repudiatory note, in addition to alerting those who frequent the university space, is to ask for financial compensation and a change in the current scenario, regarding the security and unacceptable attitude of the institution “, he wrote . .

In a note to Earththe Secretary of Public Security (SSP) informed that the 23rd police district is investigating the case and that they have already sent a request to the PUC to hand over the images from the security cameras.

The São Paulo Foundation (Fundasp), sponsor of the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo and the Assunção University Center, reported that, following the case, it is evaluating the possibility of installing turnstiles on the campus where the crime occurred.

“Considering the events that occurred within the Monte Alegre campus of the PUC-SP, involving the theft of objects by members of the academic community; Considering that such events occur regularly and that free access to campus is crucial for this to happen; Considering the action of gangs specialized in theft of electronic material in the vicinity of the campus; Considering, also, the informal investigations that show the academic community’s desire to protect itself and the campus. We inform you that the Fundação São Paulo has started studies to position the turnstiles on the Monte Alegre campus. Their placement must take place urgently, as the situation deserves”, writes the institution in a statement.

The reporting team of Earth reached out to the PUC-SP for comment on the case, but no response had been received as of the publication of this report.
