The FIFA laboratory approves the new lawn at Allianz Parque

The new pitch at Allianz Parque has been approved by the FIFA-accredited laboratory and is authorized to host international competition matches for another year. The test took place this Wednesday (27th), one day before the semi-final of the Campeonato Paulista, against Novorizontino. With the approval of the highest football body, Verdão finally completes the renovation of the stadium.

SportsLab professionals were at the Palmeiras stadium for several evaluations this Wednesday. The annual inspection aims to evaluate whether the pitch maintains the standards of a match on natural grass. The team tests the roll and bounce of the ball, as well as tests the flatness, traction and rotation of the shoe. All these assessments are responsible for validating synthetic turf for competitions.

Renovation at Allianz Parque

Allianz Parque had been closed since the end of January due to problems with the lawn at the end of last year. Real Arenas, responsible for maintaining the stadium, replaced the pitch using cork imported from Europe.

Before the inspection by the Federation of São Paulo, Palmeiras carried out tests with the youth teams. In this context, the activities approved the new flooring.

The synthetic grass remains the same as it is still in perfect usable condition. The only change was the replacement of the old thermoplastic compound with cork, due to melting caused by São Paulo’s heat and pollution. After all, the result was a sticky substance on the players’ shoes.

Allianz Parque, in fact, was an important ally of Abel Ferreira’s Verdão. With the current coaching staff, the team has been successful in 18 of the 23 single-elimination rounds played at the arena.
