Santos wins and goes to the final after eight years

With the 3-1 victory over Red Bull Bragantino, the Vila Belmiro team goes to the final and awaits Palmeiras or Novorizontino who will face each other tomorrow

Peixe returns in the Sao Paulo championship decider. The team beat Red Bull Bragantino tonight at Neo Química Arena 3-1 and will decide the state title, something that hasn’t happened since 2016, when the team beat Audax Osasco and won its last title.

Joaquim, Guilherme and Giuliano were responsible for Santos’ goals in the match, while Eduardo Sasha scored for Red Bull Bragantino. Peixe had to play with one player less in the final minutes due to Hayner’s dismissal.

Santos’ three goals were scored in aerial plays, taking advantage of the congestion in midfield. Peixe explored the plays on the sides of the pitch a lot to create scoring opportunities.

The match started electrifyingly in Itaquera. After an initial period of study, both teams began to loosen up and constantly advance offensively with ball possession. Santos started to create danger in the air and that’s how they opened the scoring with Joaquim.

The goal further increased the atmosphere at the Neo Química Arena and lifted Santos’ spirits. Supported by the fans, Peixe had clear opportunities to increase their lead already before the 30th minute, but encountered resistance from the opposing defence. On the other hand, Bragantino didn’t let himself be intimidated and even made himself dangerous on at least two occasions with shots from outside the area.

Santos increased their lead at a time when Bragantino was better in the match. Massa Bruta dominated possession and created dangerous chances when Peixe was lethal in one of his few attacks at the end of the first half, again with a cross into the area, which ended with a goal from Guilherme.

Despite not having directly contributed to the goals, Giuliano was an important player for Santos in the first phase. Upon returning from injury, the number 10 moved well, looked for play and attracted the opponent’s mark, opening up space for his teammates.

1 x 0 – Santos opens the scoring with a header from Joaquim. From a corner kick, the number 6 entered fully, beat the defense from above and found the net at the Neo Química Arena.

Almost the second! – In a quick action on the right, Guilherme finds space for the cross and sends the ball to the head of Giuliano, who was entering the area and manages to send the ball into the goal, but sees the shot saved by Cleiton.

Defended Matheus Fernandes! – The Bragantino midfielder was instrumental in preventing Santos’ second goal. Giuliano finished from inside the area after Cleiton made a mistake, but saw the Massa Bruta midfielder put his leg in the path of the ball and save his team.

2 x 0 – Santos increases the score with Guilherme. The number 11 appears behind the entire Bragantino defense on Pedrinho’s cross from the right and simply completes the ball for the goal.

2 x 1 – The law of the ex was present in Itaquera. Eduardo Sasha receives the ball on the edge of the area and, with space, finishes with his left leg into the right corner of João Paulo, who is unable to reach it.

3 x 1 – Santos scores their third goal from the top again. Hayner stole the ball in the offensive field and fed Pedrinho. The number 7 takes the ball deep and crosses for Giuliano, who heads it towards goal.

At the end of the match Hayner was sent off in a strange move. The full-back tried to shoot and wasted time with the ball.

Santos finalist and now waiting for the grand finale with Palmeiras or Novorizontino.
