Find out which teams can access the quarter-finals of the Copa do Nordeste

This Wednesday (27/3) the last round of the ranking phase of the Copa do Nordeste will take place. There are eight matches and all are decisive so the eight classified in the quarterfinals are known. After all, of the 16 competitors, only América-RN (Group A) and Itabaiana (Group B) have no chance. And only Bahia, leaders of group B, with 18 points, is already classified.

And since in this group stage the teams from one group face their rivals from the other, anything can happen. So, see what matters in each game. They are all worth one seat and start at the same time (9.30pm Brasilia time). So, check out what can happen in each of the games below. There will be no shortage of excitement and dancing among the ranks of what is the most balanced Northeast Cup in history.

Ceará (3rd in group A, 12 points) x Itabaiana (8th in group B, three points)

Ceará will advance if they win. Or they draw and three of these teams don’t win: Botafogo-PB, Vitória, Maranhão and River. If you lose, expect three of the four teams already mentioned to lose. Itabaiana is already eliminated.

Sport x (1st in group A, 14 points) x Juazeirense (5th in group B, six points)

The sport advances if they win or draw. If you lose, hope that two of these teams don’t win: CRB, Botafogo-PB, Ceará, Vitória and Maranhão (the latter with a five-goal difference in the balance). Juazeirense will advance if they win and one of these three teams doesn’t win: Fortaleza, Altos and Náutico. If they draw, expect Náutico to lose and Treze not to win. If you lose you will be eliminated.

América-RN (8th in group A, eight points) x Náutico (4th in group B, 7 points)

America is eliminated. But it was unlucky to be in group A. After all, if she had been in B she would have entered the group in G4. Náutico, which has one point less than América, but is in the ‘right group’. So you advance if you win. But if they draw, let’s hope Juazeirense doesn’t win. If you lose, you will only qualify if Juazeirense, Treze and ABC do not win. In ABC’s case, apart from the difference of five goals all things considered.

Maranhão (6th in group A, 11 points) x Fortaleza (2nd in group B, eight points)

Maranhão advances if they win and two of these teams do not win: CRB, Ceará, Botafogo-PB and Vitória. They can also beat Sport if they score and the Pernambuco team is beaten, removing the five goal difference. In case of a draw, Ceará, Botafogo and Vitória are expected to lose. If you lose you are eliminated. Fortaleza will advance if they win. In case of a draw, three of these teams cannot win: Altos, Náutico, Juazeirense and Treze. If you lose, hope for two combinations. Altos and Náutico cannot draw; Juazeirense and Treze cannot win.

Vitória (5th in Group A, 11 points) x Treze (6th in Group B, six points)

Vitória advances if they win and two of these teams do not win: CRB, Ceará, Botafogo-PB and Sport loses and is overtaken all things considered (the difference is three goals for Vitória). In case of a draw, expect Ceará or Botafogo Vitória to lose and Maranhão to win by at most one goal. If you lose you are eliminated. Treze will only qualify if they win and two of these teams stumble: Fortaleza, Altos, Nautico and Juazeirense. Draw or lose and goodbye Copa do Nordeste.

River (7th in Group A, ten points) x ABC (4th in Group B, four points)

River only qualified after the stumble of two rivals on this list: defeats against CRB, Ceará and Botafogo; draw or defeat by Vitória and Maranhão. ABC has a slim chance. They have to win and hope that Juazeirense and Treze don’t win and Náutico loses. But it is ABC that restores the balance for the Pernambuco team (five goals).

Botafogo-PB (4th in group A, 12 points) x Bahia (1st in group B, 18 points)

Botafogo advances if they win. Or a draw as long as two of these combinations occur: CRB and Ceará defeats; Vitória and Maranhão or River do not win. Bahia is the only one who enters the group ranked.

CRB (2nd in Group A, 12 points) x Altos (3rd in B, eight points)

CRB advances if they win. Or they draw and two of these rivals stumble: Ceará, Botafogo, Vitória, Maranhão and River, who fail to win. If you lose, hope two of these teams don’t beat you. This is why Ceará and Botafogo, Vitoria and Maranhão cannot draw. And River can’t win. The altos will qualify if they win. Or if there is a draw and two of these teams don’t win: Náutico, Juazeirense and Treze. If you lose, hope for two of these combinations: Náutico losing or drawing; Juazeirense and Treze don’t win.
