Head coach of the Russian national team Valery Karpin in an interview “SE” spoke about the failed match against Paraguay.

According to him, early on Saturday morning, Maxim Mitrofanov, general secretary of the RFU, called and said that there would be no match. The coach noted that before Maxim Lvovich’s call, we were preparing as usual.

“The national team’s next match will be against Belarus. In June, on the road. This was announced by Alexander Dyukov, president of the RFU. I don’t have any information yet,” Karpin said.

According to reports, the match against Paraguay has been postponed. However, we do not yet know if it will take place in 2024.

The match was scheduled to take place on March 25. On March 22, before a concert, a terrorist attack took place at the Crocus City Hall near Moscow: people were shot, explosions and a fire took place. The Russian Federation is in national mourning and mass events have been canceled. On March 21, the match between Russia and Serbia took place (4:0).

Due to sanctions, the Russian national team only plays friendly matches. Since the sanctions, only one friendly match has been lost.
