Spartak canceled friendly match against Neftchi Baku due to terrorist attack

Russia continues to insult the dead and injured in the terrorist attack on Crocus City Hall. Russian President Vladimir Putin declared March 24 a day of national mourning. The Russian national team will not play against Paraguay, and Spartak canceled a friendly match with Neftchi. On the day of the terrorist attack on Crocus City Hall, it became known that all cultural events in Moscow, including sporting events, were canceled from March 23 to 24. The match between the Russian national team and Paraguay, which was scheduled to take place on March 25 at the Dynamo Stadium, remained in force. But that too had to be canceled.

“In the current situation, together with our colleagues from Paraguay, we have decided not to organize a match between our teams and to organize it later. The match cannot take place in March because the FIFA window ends on Tuesday and national team players must return to their clubs. We discussed that we would definitely host this match in the future. As for the tickets already purchased by fans for the match, the corresponding money will be returned to them in full, the organization’s press service reports, according to the president of the Russian Football Union.

Before returning home, the players of the Russian team visited one of the points of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency. There, national team footballers donated blood to help the victims of the Crocus terrorist attack.

The technical staff of the Russian national team did not stand aside either, who also donated blood, like thousands of Russians that day.

Dynamo Moscow also decided to donate blood.

— Concerning blood donation, yes, our medical headquarters was in contact with the FMBA from the first hours after the tragedy. Together we will determine the optimal day and time. As they explained to us, the victims’ increased need for blood will be felt over the next two weeks. Our entire team wants to do everything in its power to help you. It is important that athletes, as public persons, set an example of decent behavior to society. Our Kostya Tyukavin has already become a blood donor, having gone to donate blood as part of the Russian national team,” Dynamo general director Pavel Pivovarov told SE.

After Dynamo, Spartak Moscow will also join in donating blood. It is also known that the former WBC world boxing champion Grigory Drozd donated his blood.

Russian athletes continue to share their words of support with those affected by the terrible Crocus tragedy. Figure skater Roman Kostomarov has generally called for the “execution” of terrorists who have committed attacks against civilians.

“Our condolences to family and friends… It’s terrible… The guilty must be executed, you cannot have pity,” Kostomarov wrote on his Telegram channel.

Another figure skater, Evgeni Plushenko, declared a crime against humanity.

UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev also responded to the terrorist attack in the Moscow region.
