Brazilian women aim for women’s fishing record

The aim is to once again break the Guinness Book record for the largest number of women practicing sport fishing together

During the Pesca e Companhia 2024 Fair, in San Paolo (SP), the second edition of Anzol Rosa, an exclusively female fishing event, was launched.

Created by Joice Marques, the initiative aims to bring more than 600 women to the Paraguay River, in Corumbá (MS), in November, with the aim of once again breaking the Guinness Book of Records for the largest number of women practicing together sport fishing.

The Anzol Rosa campaign will use 20 hotel boats to host participants during the five-day event.

The launch took place at the stand of the Mato Grosso do Sul Tourism Foundation, in the presence of Marcelo Claro and Cris Claro, founders of the fishing and outdoor sports fair now in its 16th edition.

All the visitors to Pro Magno received pink hats from the hands of the fishermen of Sud Grosso.

Joice Marques underlined: “It’s the power of women in sport fishing! The first edition saw the participation of 502 women on board 15 hotel boats.”

“We now hope to surpass this number in 2024, with 620 women on 20 hotel boats, demonstrating the Pantanal’s incredible facility serving fisherwomen and their families.”

The action also aims to highlight Corumbá as a sport fishing center in the country.

In recent seasons there has been a significant increase in female participation in this segment.

Almost 20 years ago, 95% of practitioners were men, while currently, according to local data, the average is 30% women.
