Canadian figure skater Stellato-Dudek became the oldest world champion at 40.
Canadian figure skater Deanna Stellato-Dudek, teaming with Maxime Deschamps, became the oldest world champion.
The day before, during a home tournament in Montreal, the 40-year-old athlete managed to win the world championship for the first time in his career.
“I didn’t set such a goal for myself when I returned to figure skating. But I knew that if I fulfilled my dream, it would inevitably happen, because I am the oldest in the world,” Stellato-Dudek told the official ISU website.
Stellato-Dudek retired from the sport at age 17 due to a series of injuries, but resumed his career at age 33.
