Spartak player Promes was arrested in Dubai at the request of the Dutch prosecutor’s office

Spartak Moscow star Quincy Promes has been arrested in Dubai. This time, the footballer was arrested at the request of the Dutch prosecutor’s office. Dutch law enforcement is demanding that UAE authorities extradite Quincy to his native country, where he has already been sentenced to 7.5 years in prison. Things are going badly for Quincy and Spartak could lose their best striker forever.

KP Sport reports on what’s happening with Quincy Promes in Dubai.

Promes was arrested again. This time it’s more serious than a road accident

Quincy Promes is once again in detention in Dubai. This was reported by the Dutch publication De Telegraaf. A little later, the information about the footballer’s detention was confirmed by the Dutch prosecutor’s office. This time, Promes was arrested precisely at the request of Dutch law enforcement. Dutch authorities intend to get the United Arab Emirates to extradite Quincy to his home country.

Previously, Promes was not allowed to leave the United Arab Emirates. At the end of February, Quincy was sent to the Dubai police station, and then a trial was scheduled. It turned out that the footballer was involved in an accident and fled the scene of the crime. In the Emirates, you can get a real sentence for this – up to 4 years in prison. But it seems that in this case, Quincy got away with a scare and a fine.

— Promes’ trial for the UAE accident has taken place. The accident case ended with a fine, with no jail time. But that’s half the problem. He remains in the Emirates due to his extradition work to the Netherlands. Things are not going well. After frequenting parties and hair salons, he was arrested at the request of the Dutch. The chances of being sent to Russia or the Netherlands were about equal. But now we are talking about the final stage of extradition,” writes journalist Dmitry Egorov on his Telegram channel.

Can Promes really be extradited to the Netherlands?

Detention at the request of the Dutch side is what Spartak fans feared during Promes’ first “flight” to Dubai. In his native country, the Rouge et Blanc attacker has already been sentenced to a year and a half for stabbing and 6 years for drug trafficking.

Additionally, Quincy was placed on the international wanted list and the Amsterdam District Attorney’s Office reported that Promes was arrested in the United Arab Emirates based on an Interpol Red Notice.

— The arrest was made on the basis of a “red notice” issued by the Netherlands. A “red notice” is a request to law enforcement agencies around the world to locate and temporarily arrest an individual pending extradition, extradition or similar legal action, the statement said.

Can Promes be sent home? It’s very real. There is an extradition treaty between the United Arab Emirates and the Netherlands. Why didn’t they do it sooner? Dutch media claimed that Russian authorities had held negotiations “at the most serious level” with the Arabs so that Promes would get off with a fine for the accident and be released in Russia.

Apparently the situation in Quincy has changed a lot.

There was no house arrest. What was Promes doing in Dubai?

On February 29 this year, Quincy Promes could not fly with Spartak from Dubai to St. Petersburg for the match against Zenit. That’s when a true detective story began to unfold.

Promes was detained at the police station for more than a day. Then they released me and scheduled a trial – in case I left the scene of an accident. The media wrote that Quincy was placed under house arrest, but the footballer himself diligently denied this.

Photos and videos of Promes at parties began appearing on social media. They showed Quincy relaxing with his new lover, rapper Tabatha Robinson. Promes also released his own track “100 Stones”. It is curious that the footballer sings about his criminal cases: “I no longer see those who promised to cover me, because the judge gave me nine years. But I don’t cry about this shit because I live without fear.

Of course, Promes was not under house arrest. Instead, Quincy went to hair salons and decided to change his image: he twisted pigtails on his head. And the most important thing that Quincy did in Dubai was to miss Spartak’s matches against Zenit (0:0) and Fakel (0:2). He will also miss the cup match against Orenburg.

“Spartak” will lose its star, but will receive 10 million euros?

And Spartak? The club hardly reacts to the news regarding Quincy Promes. The head of the Red and White press service, Dmitry Zelenov, said that Spartak would apply disciplinary sanctions to the player, but only after Quincy returned to Russia. The Spartacists also warned that there are “circumstances that do not yet allow Quincy Promes to return to Russia.” It is now clear what these circumstances are.

If Promes is nevertheless extradited to the Netherlands, Spartak will find itself without its leader. Most likely – forever. However, in both the stabbing case and the drug trafficking case, Promes’ side has already filed an appeal. So for now the footballer cannot be put behind bars.

This does not make Spartak’s task easier, but some media report that the player’s contract with the club contains special conditions for such a case. If the club terminates the contract with Promes on the basis of disciplinary sanctions, Quincy will be forced to pay a fine to the red and whites – around 10 million euros.
