RPL head Alaev admitted the possibility of integration of Belarusian clubs
RPL President Alexander Alaev outlined the league’s position on the issue of possible integration of Belarusian clubs.
Previously, the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, Oleg Matytsin, made a similar proposal. According to him, inviting Belarusian athletes will have a positive impact on the national leagues.
“We respect any initiative from the regulator, whether it is the RFU or the Ministry of Sports. But the RPL includes 16 Russian clubs and I cannot express their position without prior discussion. If such an initiative exists, we will certainly consider it. But at the moment there is nothing to comment on. We all understand the organizational and legal difficulties that this entails,” quotes SE Alaev.
Belarusian teams are already performing in Russia. For example, Dynamo Minsk is a member of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Additionally, the Minsk basketball club plays in the VTB United League.
Previously, KP-Sport previewed the fight between Islam Makhachev and Alex Volkanovski, as well as a brief report on the derby between Lokomotiv and Dynamo. Finally, we learned about the events that took place during the Russian Figure Skating Grand Prix in Omsk.
