Released in 2018, Emily’s Shadow (A simple favor in VO), a psychological thriller mixed with black comedy in the vein of Gone Girl Or The girl on the train, had enjoyed a nice little success at the box office. Worn by Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, this film by Paul Feig, adapted from the novel by Darcey Bell, largely met the expectations of fans of the genre. In this film, full of twists and turns (sometimes, how can I put it, a little far-fetched), Stephanie (Anna Kendrick) investigated the mysterious disappearance of her friend Emily (Blake Lively). And she wasn’t going to be at the end of her surprises.
We’re not going to spoil it, but in 2022, we learned that it would even be entitled to a sequel, with the same actress duo, and the same director behind the camera. It will therefore be a original story, since Darcey Bell did not see fit to write a sequel to her best-seller. And today, we finally know a little more. Already, this film will not be released in theaters, but on Prime Video in 2025.
But who will accompany Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick in this new adventure? Other actors and actresses from the first film will include Henry Golding (who played Blake Lively’s husband), Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho, Aparna Nancherla and Kelly McCormack. And as for the new faces, Deadline tells us that there will be Elena Sofia Ricci, Elizabeth Perkins, Alex Newell, Taylor Ortega, Lorenzo de Moor and… our friend Michele Morronethe sulphurous hero of the saga 365 Days !

What will this sequel be about? Emily’s Shadow ? We will therefore find friends Emily and Stephanie near… Capri, in Italy. This is where the first will celebrate her marriage to a rich Italian businessman. Played by Michele? We hope so! Quick question in passing: wasn’t Emily supposed to be in prison? We don’t know what this sequel has in store for us, but we can imagine a murder, hidden and unmentionable secrets, and lots of twists galore. This film was written by Jessica Sharzer who had already written the screenplay for the first one.
Revealed by his role in the erotic saga 365 Days in three parts which was a hit on Netflix, Michele Morrone has not yet managed to conquer the general public. A few months ago he starred in a film with Megan Fox (still not released), then in a thriller Home sweet home Rebirth (expected in theaters in 2025).
As for Blake Lively, she recently finished filming the film It ends with us, the adaptation of the best-selling book Never Again by Collen Hoover. It should be released this summer.
