This new Dockers collection will make you want to take up “old money” tennis

Intimately linked, sport continues to inspire fashion, drawing on the dress codes associated with certain sporting activities to nourish aesthetics which influence the way we dress. Among those that have been on the rise for several seasons now, there is the tenniscore style. A trend that draws from the locker rooms of tennis players to draw on preppy and preppy influences.

It must be said that on and off the court, the clothing attributed to this discipline as much as the style of emblematic players such as Rene Lacoste, Henry Austin Or John McEnroe, have long fueled the moodboards of fans of chic sportswear style. Often very elegant, tennis clothing takes on a retro spirit to flirt with another fashionable aesthetic: the “old money” style, i.e. the very sophisticated, very classic look of these “old rich” more than ‘financially comfortable.

“Racquet Club”: when Dockers take to the courts

It is also the inspiration for the new Dockers capsule collection called “Racquet Club” which takes us back to the 90s with retro-modern sets that reinterpret the emblematic pieces of racket sports. From white mini-shorts embellished with colored edging, to the polo shirt embroidered with the brand’s logo revisited in vintage typography, including the technical jacket matched with the shorts or sweatshirts with more relaxed cuts. The cuts are faithful to those of tennis clothing and the colors bring a touch of boldness thanks to the addition of green and pink to white and navy blue. The result is a practical, comfortable and elegant line, to be worn on the court, but above all off it, in everyday life by combining these pieces with other more urban ones.

Dockers and tennis are nothing new!

You should know that Dockers is not completely foreign to tennis, since in the 90s, the brand had already launched its own collection of tennis clothing, while continuing to offer their concept of versatile clothing, suitable for both the office and to an active lifestyle.

“Tennis clothing has long been a wardrobe essential”comments Nic RendicGlobal Head of Design at Dockers, adding that the most interesting thing is undoubtedly to “play with these clothes to wear them around town.” : “Today, we are seeing a real comeback of tennis and the style of the 90s. It was therefore the ideal time to create a tennis collection that takes up the codes of tennis from the 90s.” Say no more!
