The Court approves the request for judicial recovery of the Dia supermarket chain in Brazil

The 1st Bankruptcy and Judicial Reorganization Court of Sao Paulo has accepted the request for judicial recovery made by the Spanish supermarket chain Dia in Brazil, the Court of Justice of Sao Paulo reported on Friday.

The judicial recovery was proposed by the companies Dia Brasil Sociedade Limitada and DBZ Administração, Gestão de Ativos and Serviços Imobiliários, according to the court file.

Judge Adler Batista Oliveira Nobre appointed the company Expertisemais Serviços Contábeis e Administrativos as judicial administrator of the case.

When contacted, Grupo Dia did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The chain had informed the day before of its decision to submit the request in light of what it called “persistent negative results” of Dia in Brazil, a week after announcing the closure of 343 supermarkets in the country, concentrating its activities only on St. Paul .

The deadline for comments or disagreements on the credits reported by the debtor is 15 days from the publication of the collection notice, the document states.
