The government is working on a diagnosis of the airline sector and maintains dialogue with companies in the sector, but currently there is no concrete proposal to serve this segment, the Secretary for Economic Policy of the Ministry of Finance, Guilherme Mello, said on Thursday.
“We are working hard with the technicians of the Ministry of Ports and Airports to build the best possible diagnosis of the situation in the sector,” he said in a press interview.
“When we have this complete diagnosis, we will understand how we can act, then we can start discussing the role that the public sector can play in this area,” he added.
Faced with the crisis of businesses in the sector, the government declared in January that it was structuring a financing fund of 4 to 6 billion reais to support the sector. Then, in March, Finance Minister Fernando Haddad said the government would prepare a proposal to restructure the sector that would not involve primary spending.
