After all, is solar energy really reliable?

In the search for accessible and sustainable technologies, it stands out as a consistent option

The technology behind solar power generation emerged in the 1950s, but has only recently gained popularity in Brazil, thanks to its tropical location and high exposure to solar radiation.

In this scenario, a lot is already known about the advantages of solar energy, especially because it is cheaper and more sustainable. But some questions still remain about its credibility: After all, is solar energy reliable?

Understanding how solar energy works is one of the first steps in reaping its benefits and realizing that it is a reliable source. Energy is generated by solar panels placed in strategic positions to receive radiation. By capturing light from the environment, the electrons in the material of each plate begin to move and generate electrical energy.

The best-known solar panels are those installed on the roofs of buildings. However, this option presents some obstacles, such as the high amount to be paid for the installation and maintenance of the signs, as well as works that change the appearance of the property.

We must also remember that there are two types of plates: thermal and photovoltaic. Solar thermal panels are more common and, because they only work by heating water, they are more cost-effective. Photovoltaic solar panels, on the other hand, which generate energy and can power all the electrical equipment in the property, are more expensive and therefore less accessible.

Solution for those who cannot invest

In the shared energy generation model, no work or investments are necessary. The energy is generated in solar parks, fed into the distribution network and distributed to consumers, who receive credits for consuming clean energy. It’s a simple, digital process with no additional costs.

This method is supported by ANEEL Regulatory Resolution No. 482/2012 and Law No. 14,300 of 2022. When you register and submit your electricity bill, you will receive solar energy at a discounted rate, without changes to conventional supply.

Countries like China already use it on a large scale, consuming and exporting materials for the production of solar panels. Sustainability and reducing generation costs are key factors. In addition to being a clean and renewable source, solar energy does not emit air pollutants. Its plates can last two decades or more, harnessing the inexhaustible resource of sunlight.

In summary, solar energy emerges as a notable alternative. In the search for affordable and sustainable technologies, it stands out as a consistent option to address the challenges associated with global warming.

Its adoption is not just an investment for the future. This can already be considered now and this tends to contribute to the construction of a more sustainable world.
