The investigation into the president of Peru now also includes the Cartier bracelet and deposits

Peru’s attorney general said Tuesday that an investigation into President Dina Boluarte has been expanded to include a $56,000 Cartier bracelet in her possession and 1.1 million soles ($298,100) in bank deposits of “unknown origin.”

Boluarte is already under investigation for possession of high-value Rolex watches.

Speaking to a congressional committee, Attorney General Juan Villena said the investigation was expanded Monday. Included in the investigation was jewelry worth an estimated $500,000 that Boluarte was photographed wearing at public events.

The deposits in Boluarte’s bank accounts date back to the period from 2016 to 2022, before she became president. At the time, Boluarte claimed that bank accounts were shared when she was president of a regional club. She has denied any acts of corruption.
