PVC: The champion never won the first three games in the consecutive points era

The last Brazilian champion with three wins in the first three rounds was Corinthians in 1999

Journalist Paulo Vinicius Coelho, known as PVC, pointed out on Monday in his article on UOL (22) that the last Brazilian champion with three victories in the first three rounds was Corinthians in 1999. In other words, this fact is unprecedented in ‘era of racing points. The PVC pointed out that Flamengo have not won their first three Brasileirão matches since 1982, being champions that year.

– Other than that, he only started at 100% in 1978 and 1979, years in which he didn’t come close to winning the title. In the history of the points race there is no champion with nine points in the first three games. With 100% in the first three rounds, there are examples like Paraná Clube, from 2007, who then got relegated – he recalled.

The closest, PVC added, was Internacional de Tite, with three wins in the first three rounds, but finished second.

– But the plague was there. He did not win the title and the second coach was Mário Sérgio. Tite could not resist the entire campaign – he underlined.
