ENM performances: Arrascaeta excels in Flamengo’s apathetic debut; see notes

Flamengo stumbles in their Libertadores debut this Tuesday

Flamengo drew with Millonarios in Colombia and made his debut with his left foot in the first match of the Libertadores group stage. Pedro scored from a penalty conceded by the champion De Arrascaeta, but Rubro-Negro, despite having one more player, conceded the equalizer to the home team. Matias Viña was marked by the clearly missed goal, just 5 minutes into the match, the full-back could have opened the scoring for Rubro-Negro.

Positive highlights:

Arrascaeta- Even in the absence of teammate De La Cruz, midfielder De Arrascaeta commanded Flamengo’s match and conceded the penalty that led to Millonarios’ dismissal from midfield.

Pedro- The striker did not play a brilliant match, had no chances and lost most of the disputes with his opponents. However, he was decisive once again, scoring the only Rubro-Negro goal of the match from a penalty. Flamengo’s top scorer this season has reached 11 goals.

Negative points:

Viña- The full-back didn’t have a bad defensive game, but he had the clearest chance of the match, just 5 minutes into the match, after receiving a perfect pass from Bruno Henrique, the Uruguayan sent the ball very far , coming face to face with the target. If he had scored, the match could have been much calmer as expected.

Shallot- The Flamengo winger, who had stood out in recent performances and throughout coach Tite’s tenure, left something to be desired in today’s match. Cebolinha was used well but failed to create good opportunities in attack and played a match below expectations.
