Canadian MAE says ‘appalled’ by Israeli attack on aid workers in Gaza

Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie strongly condemned Israel’s attack on humanitarian workers in Gaza.

In his official post, the minister also highlighted the presence of a Canadian citizen among the victims.

“We condemn these strikes and demand a full investigation,” he said, stressing that “all those responsible for these killings will be held accountable.”

“We will report it directly to the Israeli government,” he said.

Melanie Jolie also referred to the “unacceptable” nature of these attacks against humanitarian personnel and emphasized the absolute imperative to respect international law.

Seven foreigners working for a humanitarian organization were killed in an Israeli airstrike on their vehicle in the town of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip on Monday evening.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war in the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians, mostly children and women, in addition to unprecedented humanitarian disaster and destruction. The massive infrastructure that led to Tel Aviv. to appear before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for “genocide”.

Israel has also imposed a total blockade on the Gaza Strip, leaving its population, especially those in the northern Palestinian enclave, on the brink of starvation.

Israel’s war has also led to the internal displacement of 85% of Gaza’s population due to severe shortages of food, drinking water and medicine, and 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the United Nations.

Israel is accused of genocide before the court. An interim ruling issued in January ordered Tel Aviv to end acts of genocide and take steps to provide humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.
