While capri pants and cropped pants are making a much-noticed return to the fashion scene this spring 2024, another piece with a hybrid length promises to make waves. Because it promises to be one of the trendiest of the season. But also because it will divide as its style is, we have no other words to describe it, extremely ugly! This isn’t enough to put off the most stylish girls, who are definitely big fans of out-of-the-box clothing these days. Despite a questionable look, the controversial jort is all the rage among cool girls and promises to dress us up all spring-summer.

For those who have missed this fashion phenomenon, the term “jort” is a portmanteau word born from the contraction of “jeans” and “shorts”. You will have understood, these are denim shorts. And according to an April 10 publication from the Instagram account Data But Make It Fashion, which had access to search figures on the Asos site, searches for jorts increased by 29% between the first week of April and the following. The popularity of the term “long denim shorts” is said to have increased by 76% on Twitter. Considered ugly and unflattering by many, the jort is indeed preparing to make a comeback.
